Repair Kit
For Bathtubs and Showers
I followed the Directions, but the putty is not Hardening (kicking)
Make entirely sure you are following the directions exactly. The jar contains 1 Oz. of gel-coat paste. The hardner is a catalyst, when mixing the two, the catalyst/putty mixture should contain about 1%-2% catalyst. If there is not enough it will not "kick", if there is too much it will not "kick".
I can only find White or Bone, where can I find more colors?
We carry many major manufacturers colors. If we do not carry it we can custom match it. However, custom matches must be purchased in larger quantities. The smallest amount we offer for custom matches is one quart.
My tub/shower has a large gash in it, will this fix it?
This repair kit is a COSMETIC repair kit. It will not repair any structural damage. If there is a crack or gash where the two sides move independently you need to contact a professional. You must have access behind the tub/shower in order to fix structural damage. If it is a small crack or scrape the repair kit will repair it amazingly well.
How much will one repair kit repair?
A repair kit will repair an area of about the size of a golf ball.
Is my shower/bath fiberglass or acrylic?
Acrylic is molded from a giant sheet of acrylic plastic. It is heated and molded and is the same color throughout. Around the edges it will be generally thick, but it will thin out in different parts of the mold, due to the molding process. Usually Acrylic is more expensive and therefore is most often used in just tubs as opposed to showers.
Fiberglass showers/tubs are generally thinner than acrylic. In order to keep track of the thickness and layering of the fiberglass, manufacturers keep the underlayers a different, usually darker color.
